Fusion Electrical is committed to providing the best products and most up to date trends. In recent years LED lights have taken over the market, and with the news that halogen bulbs and fittings aren’t going to be made past 2025, now is the time to upgrade from incandescent or halogen to LED. But where to start?

It sounds obvious, but the best place to start is to work out which lights are on the most, and replace them first. In this way, you will maximise your saving, LEDs use 90% less energy than a traditional incandescent.

What about the Wattage? As rough guide, if you want the equivalent of an ‘old school’ 100 watt light bulb, go for 10 watts, 60 watts – 6 watts, 40 watts – 4 watts. The mathematicians among you will spot a rough 10% rule. For spotlights, replace a 50 watt GU 10 with a 4 watt LED bulb.

Light temperature (colour) is measured in Kelvin (K). The lower the number, the warmer the light. If you like a warm light, 2700K is the ideal choice – it’s like the light from an old-fashioned bulb. 3000K is less warm, and then as you go up the light becomes cooler and whiter – anything approaching 5000k will be nearly blue. These colours are often referred to as ‘warm white’ or ‘cool white’.

We can help identify which lights need to be changed first, what wattages to use, and which colour will work best in each room. We can also upgrade old halogen security lights, under unit lighting, and external lighting.

Fusion also offer plastered in LED channels to add the wow factor to rooms within your home.
